New Facility

Mid Suffolk Gymnastics Club has a vision:

To create a local ‘Centre of Excellence’ for gymnastics in the Stowmarket area which will encourage more people to take up and continue to participate in gymnastics.”
In order to achieve the vision, a new purpose built, permanent gym facility is needed to allow us to support the Olympic legacy by:

  • Extending participation in existing classes (gymnastics, trampolining) by offering classes to all ages, genders and abilities
  • Supporting the local community and schools more fully
  • Offering new exciting classes such as Gym Fit, Adult Gymnastics & Free G
  • Allowing extended training hours for talented gymnasts to allow them to reach their full potential
  • Creating a venue for Suffolk County gymnastic competitions

We currently have to share the main sports hall at the Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre with other users.  This means that all the equipment the club uses has to be set up and put away for every session, reducing training time, limiting the equipment that can be used, and relying on the good will of parents to help!

It also means that there is also a lack of space available for additional equipment which could be used to offer coaching to younger or older participants, boys or disabled groups.

The club would like to be able to offer a full range of gymnastic activities, but is not able to because of restrictions on space and facility availability.

With a waiting list for places, and Stowmarket set for extensive housing growth in the coming years, we believe there is a demand for a full time, specialist gym facility able to offer classes for all ages and abilities.

What’s next..

Working with Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre, Mid Suffolk District Council and British Gymnastics, the club is now investigating options to build a new gymnastics centre at the rear of the existing Leisure Center site. Currently we are completing surveys to confirm the potential demand from the public. Once this has been completed we will need to start fund raising- we will be applying for government funding of course, but will also need to raise a significant amount ourselves.

To make this happen we need your support! Here’s how you can help:

Help raise funds or make a donation

Join our project- we are looking for volunteers who have a relevant skill- accountants, plumbers, electricians, builders etc, or just anyone who is passionate and can spare some time
